### 🏖️ Agia Thekla Beach – a quiet bathing paradise near Ayia Napa If you want to enjoy the turquoise sea around Ayia Napa but not necessarily the crowds of its most famous beaches, Agia Thekla Beach is a beautiful alternative. The beach lies about 6.5 km west of Ayia Napa centre and is one of the quieter beaches in the region. Fine golden sand, clear water and a sheltered bay make for relaxed swimming and sunbathing. Agia Thekla also lies within a protected Natura 2000 area. ### 🌊 Ideal for families The sea here is comparatively calm and shallow near the shore. That makes Agia Thekla especially suitable for families with children and for anyone who prefers floating calmly in the water to lying in the middle of a party beach. The seabed is partly rocky – bathing shoes can therefore be useful. ### 🏝️ The small island in front of the beach A special photo motif is the small rocky island just off the coast. It helps shelter the bay from stronger waves and gives Agia Thekla its characteristic look. When the sea is calm, the area around the rocks is also interesting for snorkelling. ### ⛪ Make sure to visit the Agia Thekla chapel Just a few steps from the beach stands the small white-and-blue Agia Thekla chapel on the rocks above the sea. Even more interesting: below or beside today's chapel there is an old cave church cut into the rock, reachable via steps. The short detour is worth it even for visitors who normally don't visit churches – the location right above the sea alone makes this place special. ### 🌅 Cyplora sunset tip Agia Thekla is especially beautiful in the late afternoon. The combination of sea, rocks and the white-and-blue chapel makes the area a great spot for sunset photos. If you are planning a beach day, it is therefore worth staying a little longer and taking in the sunset. ### 🍹 Food & drinks right at the beach No worries – you don't have to drive back to Ayia Napa for a drink or something to eat. Right at Agia Thekla is the Nissaki Beach Restaurant & Bar. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks and drinks. That makes it easy to turn a beach visit into a complete, relaxed day by the sea. ### 🚶 Coastal path & walks If you don't want to stay on the sunbed the whole time, follow the coastal path. To the west it leads to the picturesque fishing harbour Potamos tou Liopetriou with its traditional fishing boats. In the other direction the route follows the coast towards Vathia Gonia. ### 🏄 Facilities The beach has sunbeds and umbrellas, toilets, changing rooms and water sports. Lifeguards are on duty during the bathing season from April to October. There is also parking and a special beach wheelchair for visitors with reduced mobility. ### 📍 What else is nearby? Agia Thekla combines very well with further stops.
